Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking an Application Cloud Engineer to maintain and enhance AWS-based applications and infrastructure in a remote contract role. The engineer will collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable systems, including on-call rotations for 24/7 production support.

Requires US citizenship or P; active Public Trust clearance and willingness to work on a W-2 basis.

Qualifications

• 8+ years with relevant degrees, or 6+ years with MS/MA, or 12+ years HS-equivalent.
• Hands-on AWS experience with deployment strategies.
• CI/CD pipelines for containers and Kubernetes familiarity.
• Disaster recovery planning and implementation knowledge.
• Security, compliance, and incident response experience.

Responsibilities

• Provision and manage AWS infra using Terraform.
• Manage EKS clusters: provisioning, upgrades, node groups.
• Configure VPC CNI, security groups, and ALB/NLB ingress.
• Administer Kubernetes objects: deployments, services, RBAC.
• Monitor production with CloudWatch; troubleshoot issues.
• Containerize and deploy apps with ECS and Lambda.
• Deploy across dev/stage/prod for consistency.
• Improve pipelines, automate health checks, and logs.
• Collaborate with Dev and Ops for stateless apps.
• Enforce security scans and compliance gates.
