Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking an Application Cloud Engineer for a remote contract role focusing on AWS-based applications and infrastructure. You will maintain, enhance, and secure cloud solutions, collaborating with development, operations, and security teams.

The position includes on-call rotations for 24/7 production support and a strong benefits package for W2 consultants. Candidates should have extensive AWS experience, IaC skills with Terraform, and Kubernetes expertise.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in IT with degree or 6+ years with MS/MA
• Hands-on AWS experience with deployment strategies
• Familiarity with image registries (ECR) and container CI/CD pipelines
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, YAML/JSON, Node.js, and Lambda
• Hands-on CI/CD tooling and Kubernetes experience
• Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and implementation
• Cloud certifications such as AWS DevOpsEngineer or Solutions Architect Associate
• Understanding of autoscaling, load balancing, and monitoring

Responsibilities

• Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using IaC (Terraform)
• Manage Amazon EKS clusters, upgrades, node groups
• Configure VPC, security groups, and ALB/NLB ingress for EKS
• Administer Kubernetes objects: deployments, services, configmaps, secrets
• Monitor systems with CloudWatch and observability tools
• Containerize and deploy with ECS and Lambda
• Ensure consistent deployments across dev, staging, prod
• Troubleshoot deployment issues and optimize pipelines
• Daily health checks using AWS CLI or Lambda scripts
• Collaborate with Dev and DevOps for stateless, fault-tolerant apps
• Improve ECS scalability, performance, and observability
• Implement auto-scaling and rolling deployments
• Support feature branches, MR validation, and artifact promotion
• Enforce pipeline security and automated code scanning
• Remediate vulnerabilities at OS, container, and dependencies
• Plan and test regional failover and recovery runbooks
• Meet RTO/RPO requirements
• Diagnose production issues across cloud services and CI/CD
• Follow incident response playbooks and improve alerts
• Log incidents and changes in tracking systems
