Job summary

Peraton seeks an experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our remote team. You will manage AWS cloud infrastructure, implement CI/CD pipelines, and automate deployment workflows in a multi-cloud-ready environment.

This role requires strong scripting, IaC, and security practices across incident management and cost optimization. The candidate will contribute to CHS III program initiatives, supporting DOI migrations to secure, scalable cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and perform work within the United States.

Responsibilities

• Participate in root cause analysis of system incidents.
• Respond to and resolve tickets in the operations support queue per SLAs.
• Use AWS CloudFormation, GitLab and GitLab Runners to manage and maintain AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3, ELB, VPC, IAM).
• Automate routine operational tasks using Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Implement configuration management with Ansible, Chef, or AWS Systems Manager.
• Set up and maintain observability tools (CloudWatch, DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Ensure security best practices (IAM, encryption, VPC design, secrets management) and compliance.
• Analyze and optimize AWS cloud costs without compromising performance.
• Collaborate with customer DevOps engineers and report status weekly.
