Synchrony seeks an AVP, Principal Software Engineer to lead hands-on system design and architecture across consumer banking and credit servicing apps. You’ll influence teams toward resilient, scalable solutions using microservices and cloud-native practices.

This remote role offers occasional on-site engagements, requires vaccination for in-person events, and emphasizes operational excellence, mentoring, and adherence to Synchrony standards across the tech stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in software engineering.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple agile teams through SAFe and full lifecycle.
• Architect applications across the full stack (PCF, Cloud Native, Microservices).
• Drive CI/CD strategy with Jenkins, Bitbucket, and uDeploy.
• Mentor teams and ensure architecture standards and security compliance.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and architects to deliver scalable apps.
