Job summary

PeoplePartners seeks an AV Design Engineer / AV CAD Designer with strong AutoCAD skills and AV systems knowledge. The role blends CAD drafting with AV design support, turning engineering requirements and project specs into construction-ready drawings.

Commercial AV experience is preferred; candidates with related low-voltage, electrical, telecommunications, MEP or BIM drafting backgrounds will be considered. Remote work setup included.

Qualifications

• At least 2+ years of AV technical/system design or related construction documentation experience.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Revit experience including BIM coordination, families and work-sharing.
• Familiarity with AV platforms and technologies (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Dante/AV-over-IP).
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu, D-Tools, XTEN-AV, Visio, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360, Microsoft 365, or Adobe Acrobat.
• Knowledge of AVIXA standards, structured cabling, display sightlines and speaker layouts.
• AVIXA CTS certification; CTS-D is an advantage.
• Experience with low-voltage systems, electrical drafting, MEP, BIM coordination or systems integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop AV construction drawings, shop drawings and technical layouts using AutoCAD and/or Revit (floor plans, RCCs, rack elevations, signal-flow diagrams, cable schedules).
• Translate engineering markups and project specs into coordinated drawings.
• Assist with equipment placement, rack configurations, cable routing and display layouts.
• Review drawings to identify AV coordination conflicts and infrastructure needs.
• Coordinate AV infrastructure with engineers, architects and contractors.
• Revise drawings based on redlines, RFIs and field feedback.
• Prepare submittals, as-built docs and technical drawings for construction, estimating and sales support.
• Maintain CAD blocks, templates and document control across projects.
