Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking an Automation Specialist to optimize automated systems in manufacturing and a newly developed warehouse solution. You will partner with Operations, IT, and vendors to document processes and ensure reliable performance, with about 70% remote work and 30% travel.

The role emphasizes problem solving, continuous improvement, and collaboration across OT and IT domains, including integration of MES, WMS, and SCADA. Bachelor’s in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in automation, industrial control, MES, process design or PM environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES or automation technologies is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support automated systems controls and SOPs across operations.
• Document warehouse processes; become SME on automation integrations.
• Assist in integrating WMS/MES/SCADA with packaging and manufacturing systems.
• Train on-site super users to troubleshoot automation issues.
• Develop monitoring dashboards and coordinate with vendors on integrations.
• Contribute to OT security, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
