Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking an Automation & Solutions Engineer to design and implement innovative automation solutions across our nationwide distribution network.

This remote role travels to support onsite assessments, project implementation, and collaboration with engineering and operations teams. You will lead design efforts for advanced material handling technologies, create facility layouts, perform ROI analyses, and validate designs with simulations to ensure throughput and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years developing and implementing automation projects in industrial settings.
• Experience with automated material handling systems and process automation.
• Facility design, infrastructure planning, and capital equipment acquisition experience.
• Distribution center or warehouse automation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automated material handling equipment (MHE) solutions.
• Analyze facility workflows to identify automation opportunities and optimize designs.
• Create layouts, schematics, and design docs using AutoCAD and other tools.
• Evaluate automation technologies including conveyors, sortation, robotics.
• Conduct ROI analyses to support investment decisions.
• Lead projects from concept through implementation with cross-functional teams.
• Use simulation tools to validate designs for throughput and safety.
• Present designs and recommendations to stakeholders.
