Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering professional to design, program, and implement generator control switchgear systems across low- and medium-voltage platforms.

You will work on retrofit and new projects from concept to commissioning, collaborating with dealers, factories, and CAD teams to ensure robust automation solutions. The role requires experience with PLC/HMI programming, schematic reading, and cross-functional teamwork, with travel up to 35-50% and remote US-based

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or related experience.
Experience with automation and controls, PLC, HMIs, DCS.
Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with dealers and factory teams.
Design, program, test, and commission LV/MV generator paralleling controls.
Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
Develop PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring drawings.
Provide field support and training on maintenance and operation.
