Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance coverage via system tools and updates billing system.
• Confirms provider participation with patient’s plan/network.
• Determines payer referral and authorization requirements.
• Secures payer required referrals for planned services.
• Documents referrals in the practice management system.
• Researches system notes to obtain missing information.
• Initiates authorization and submits clinical documentation.
• Follows through on pre-certifications until approval.
• Communicates with surgical coordinators about status.
• Supports supervisor with special projects.
