Job summary

Addus HomeCare in Frisco, TX is seeking an Authorization Clerk to manage private insurance authorizations for hospice patients. The role involves tracking, submitting, and following up on authorizations, with HCHB experience preferred and home health/hospice background required.

The schedule is remote, Monday–Friday 9am–6pm CST with a one-hour lunch, plus an on-call rotation for evenings and weekends. Strong Excel/Word skills and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Insurance experience: running/reading eligs, requesting authorizations.
• HCHB experience preferred.
• Home health & Hospice experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology or general medical background.
• Ability to work with little supervision and make appropriate judgments.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, tactful, and able to follow orders.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Advanced computer skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word.

Responsibilities

• Track and request all authorizations for private insurance.
• Modify the authorization process and relationships under supervision of Billing Manager.
• Disseminate accurate authorization information to staff.
• Minimize denied authorizations.
• Schedule authorizations upon receipt.
• Enter staff schedules for private pay clients weekly.
• Verify insurance eligibility of clients monthly.
• Report unauthorized visits monthly.
• Adhere to work schedule, punctuality, and attendance.
• Adhere to dress code and conduct.
• Perform other related duties as deemed necessary by Supervisor.
