Job summary

Delacorte Press, an imprint of Penguin Random House, is seeking an Associate Editor to join its licensed publishing team and support our growing licensed program.

The role involves editorial work, acquisitions, and development for licensed YA/MG titles, collaborating with authors, licensors, and in-house partners to craft compelling books. Remote-friendly, with NY base and cross-team coordination.

Qualifications

• 3+ years editorial experience in trade publishing.
• Ability to provide substantive and line‑level editorial feedback.
• Excellent organizational and project-management skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and follow‑through.
• Ability to collaborate with creative teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
• Strong interest in children’s and young adult publishing, popular culture, entertainment properties, and franchise storytelling.
• Experience with licensed publishing and/or working with licensors and approval processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage licensed publishing projects from manuscript development through publication.
• Identify and acquire select new projects with commercial opportunities.
• Develop original publishing concepts within licensed worlds and formats.
• Evaluate proposals and manuscripts and participate in acquisitions discussions.
• Build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, licensors, creators, and partners.
• Manage licensor submissions, feedback, and approvals while maintaining schedules.
• Partner with Design, Production, Marketing, Publicity, and Sales on plans.
• Manage retail-exclusive editions and paperback conversions.
• Identify backlist opportunities for refreshed editions tied to franchises.
• Contribute to the strategic growth of Delacorte’s licensed publishing program.
