Job summary

Hootsuite is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel, Commercial and Privacy, to help advance a world-class privacy program and support on sales and other commercial matters. This remote-first role reports to the Senior Legal Counsel, Privacy, AI & Compliance, and is open to applicants in locations where we hire.

You’ll translate global privacy laws into practical guidance for stakeholders and help drive deals to close.

Qualifications

• 5 years of demonstrated privacy, legal or compliance experience or equivalent education/experience
• Law degree from a recognized university
• Knowledge of privacy laws, including GDPR, and IAPP or similar certifications

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline privacy support to business stakeholders across product, sales, marketing, and people functions
• Draft privacy notices, policies, and guidance
• Negotiate commercial and data protection agreements (DPA, NDA, SaaS, vendor)
• Collaborate on privacy initiatives (retention/deletion, PIAs, data inventories, vendor controls)
• Advise on privacy risks and practical business solutions
• Support privacy operations tools and processes
• Provide guidance on commercial contracts, data protection, and procurement
