Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a Remote Associate Attorney to defend workers' compensation matters in California. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of CA WC defense experience and are licensed in California.

You will manage files from assignment through resolution, appear before WCAB, draft pleadings and settlement documents, and negotiate cost-efficient outcomes while maintaining client service standards in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• 1+ year of California workers' compensation defense experience required.
• Experience handling WCAB appearances, hearings, settlements, and file management preferred.
• Employer, carrier, or TPA defense experience strongly preferred.
• Strong writing, communication, organization, and client service skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote role while staying responsive and deadline-oriented.
• Must currently live in Orange County or Los Angeles County, California.

Responsibilities

• Manage California workers' compensation defense matters from assignment through resolution.
• Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in WCAB proceedings.
• Attend hearings, conferences, depositions, trials, and other workers' compensation litigation events.
• Draft pleadings, reports, settlement documents, correspondence, and case evaluations.
• Communicate with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, medical providers, and experts.
• Negotiate settlements and work toward practical, cost-effective outcomes.
• Use technology and strong organization to manage files efficiently in a remote environment.
