Job summary

SEH, an employee‑owned engineering, architectural, planning and environmental firm, is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations and support the annual audit process. You’ll partner with the Controller and senior leadership on financial strategy, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

This remote position is open to candidates across most US states, with relocation options. Base pay is 110,000–140,000 with full benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• CPA, Active or Inactive.
• Experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller.
• Experience being part of an annual financial statement audit.
• Broad, hands-on expertise across end-to-end accounting operations.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; ability to leverage systems to improve processes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Proactively evaluate emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes.
• Build and maintain relationships with external auditors to support audits and controls.
• Manage treasury activities, including daily cash positioning and forecasting.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
• Partner with operations and leadership for budgeting and cost management.
• Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff.
• Collaborate with Controller on financial strategy and process improvements.
• Remote role open to candidates residing in most US states; relocation if desired.
