Job summary

Dexter Health is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to turn ambiguous product ideas into production-ready AI features. This hands-on role focuses on shipping features, not research, and you will own the delivery end-to-end.

You design LLM-based workflows, implement validation logic, and build evaluation loops. You will integrate AI into product and backend systems, work with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Copilot, and operate in a fast-paced startup environment. Remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills with Python or a backend language.
• Experience building AI-powered product features or LLM-based workflows.
• Ability to translate ambiguous product ideas into working software quickly.
• Strong understanding of designing, testing, validating, and improving AI outputs.
• Experience integrating AI workflows into production systems.
• Proficient debugging across app logic, data, and model outputs.
• Comfort using AI development tools daily (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot).
• High learning speed, ownership mindset, and bias to action.

Responsibilities

• Build new AI-powered features from idea to production.
• Improve AI workflows for quality, reliability, latency, and user value.
• Design and implement LLM-based workflows, validation logic, and fallback behavior.
• Build evaluation loops, tests, and quality checks for AI outputs.
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing product and backend systems.
• Work with multiple LLM providers; support self-hosted workflows when beneficial.
• Debug AI feature failures across inputs, outputs, and data.
