Job summary

Canadian Solar is seeking an Applications Engineer (USA) to provide technical support for utility-scale BESS projects. The role involves pre-sales sizing, design, and value engineering, working with engineering and commercial teams to build competitive proposals.

The candidate should have a university engineering degree and at least 3 years in BESS applications or systems engineering, with strong technical and communication skills and the ability to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in Applications and/or Systems Engineering for BESS.
• Ability to read schematics and advisory reports.
• Familiarity with UL standards for BESS and grid inverters.
• Knowledge of BESS EMS communications architectures.
• Experience across cultures in a multinational company is preferred.
• Strong time management and multitasking ability.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or related tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical champion in customer discussions and as a resource on product specs.
• Deliver technical presentations and respond to customer questions.
• Analyze RFPs to define project scope, schedule, risk and requirements.
• Lead the technical sizing of BESS projects using internal models.
• Prepare documentation for proposals and coordinate bid packages.
• Review and negotiate technical contract exhibits for the Applications team.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, and procurement to align priorities.
• Provide market sensing outputs after stakeholder engagement, travel up to 20%.
