Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Application Security Engineer to join our development team, working remotely to support East London operations. You will embed security throughout the software development lifecycle and collaborate with developers to build safer applications.

You will conduct SAST/DAST, perform threat modeling, and advise on secure coding practices, while guiding teams on OWASP Top 10 and common web vulnerabilities to strengthen our CI/CD pipelines and security tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in application security or software development with a security focus.
• Proficiency in secure coding practices for Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with SAST/DAST tools and vulnerability management.
• Understanding of web application security principles, APIs, and common attack vectors.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Integrate security into the SDLC, from requirements to deployment.
• Conduct SAST/DAST on applications and identify vulnerabilities.
• Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for new and existing apps.
• Provide guidance on secure coding and remediation strategies.
• Develop and maintain security automation tools for CI/CD pipelines.
