Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Application Security Engineer to join our development team, working remotely to support East London operations. You will embed security throughout the software development lifecycle and collaborate with developers to build safer applications.

You will conduct SAST/DAST, perform threat modeling, and advise on secure coding practices, while guiding teams on OWASP Top 10 and common web vulnerabilities to strengthen our CI/CD pipelines and security tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in application security or software development with a security focus.
• Proficiency in secure coding practices for Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with SAST/DAST tools and vulnerability management.
• Understanding of web application security principles, APIs, and common attack vectors.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices.

• Integrate security into the SDLC, from requirements to deployment.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Application Security Engineer to join their development team, working remotely to support their operations in East London. This role is dedicated to ensuring that software applications are designed, developed, and deployed securely. You will collaborate closely with developers to embed security practices throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), perform security testing, and provide guidance on secure coding techniques. The ideal candidate is passionate about secure development and has a strong understanding of common web vulnerabilities and their mitigation. Key Responsibilities

• Integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Conduct static application security testing (SAST) and dynamic application security testing (DAST) on applications.
• Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for new and existing applications.
• Provide guidance and training to development teams on secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
• Review code for security flaws and recommend remediation strategies.
• Develop and maintain security automation tools and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
