Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering with 3+ years in modernization.
• Experience modernizing large, high-availability apps.
• Hands-on in Java, .NET or Python with legacy code analysis.
• Experience inventorying legacy estates and planning migrations.
• Translating requirements into architectures, ADRs and delivery plans.
• Designing distributed systems on Azure/AWS/GCP.
• Establishing engineering standards, automation and testing.
• Identifying and managing SDLC risks.
• Using AI-assisted development tools for code analysis and modernization.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
• Strong client-facing communication and architectural direction.

Responsibilities

• Lead an agile delivery team or significant workstream within a larger program, owning technical outcomes and the developer experience while ensuring solutions deliver measurable business outcomes for clients.
• Own technical and delivery risk within your scope, proactively identifying, tracking, and mitigating risks related to legacy dependencies, migration patterns, new technologies, and AIsisted approaches.
• Remain hands-on in architecture, design, and development while overseeing multiple work packages and ensuring solutions align with architectures and standards.
• Drive application modernization by assessing legacy codebases, inventories, and dispositions (rehost, refactor, re-platform, retire, retain or replace).
• Develop assessments and target-state designs that show a clear path from legacy environments to modernized solutions.
• Lead discovery and planning with clients to define problems, outcomes, success criteria, constraints, and priorities.
• Champion spec-driven development with documentation of requirements, architectural intent, ADRs, and acceptance criteria.
• Promote a modern developer experience, using AI-assisted tools to accelerate legacy analysis and improve quality and feedback cycles.
• Provide technical leadership within Connected Services and maintain accountability for quality and delivery.
• Maintain strong engineering judgment and transparent documentation of key decisions.
• Support engineering standards and reusable patterns across engagements.
