Job summary

PingWind is seeking an API Developer to join our team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a fully remote position responsible for development of APIs, including designing, developing, and maintaining interfaces that enable communication between different software systems.

Responsibilities include defining API specifications, building endpoints with Java and Python, ensuring secure integration, writing tests, and maintaining comprehensive documentation while working closely

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering or technical discipline.
5 years relevant experience; degree may be substituted for 8 years of experience.
AWS, Git, Java REST Web Service, Spring Boot and SQL at advanced level.
U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

Define and document API specifications, endpoints, data models, and protocols - REST, GraphQL.
Build and implement APIs using Java and Python.
Ensure seamless integration of APIs with internal and external systems and third-party services.
Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for APIs and debug issues.
Create and maintain documentation for API consumers with usage examples and best practices.
Implement authentication, authorization, encryption, and security best practices.
Monitor and optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability.
Manage API versions and ensure backward compatibility.
Collaborate with front-end and back-end developers, architects, QA, and stakeholders.
Provide ongoing support, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements.
