Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the U.S. Antarctic Program. The role is remote with annual CONUS and OCONUS deployments focusing on Antarctic field, peninsula, and vessel operations.

Responsibilities include administering safety strategies, conducting risk assessments, and serving as the safety point of contact for field camps and stations. Requirements include a BS in safety-related field, 5+ years of safety/health experience, and the ability to deploy in extreme weather.

Qualifications

• BS in Safety sciences, chemistry, environmental, engineering, or related field is required.
• Minimum of 5 years experience with safety and health rules, standards, and safety program components.
• Field experience with logistic base support for remote work camps in heavy industrial or construction environments.
• Excellent written and oral communications.
• Professional certification in safety/industrial hygiene (CSP/CIH) may be pursued.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and health program compliance across station, field and peripheral operations.
• Develop and implement risk management tools and strategies for ASC operations and field camps.
• Act as safety and health POC for projects, supporting incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
• Conduct site visits and safety assessments to ensure regulatory and program conformance.
• Provide guidance to leadership on safety practices and program improvements.
