TEKsystems is seeking a Coding Specialist - Outpatient Surgery Coder to accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient surgery, observation, and ancillary encounters within Epic work queues.

This fully remote contract-to-hire role requires 4-5 years of hospital-based outpatient coding, AHIMA/AAPC credential, and strong collaboration with physicians to ensure compliant claims. The position offers remote work with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion of an AHIMA or AAPC approved coding program.
• 4-5 years of recent hospital-based outpatient coding experience.
• Facility coding experience.
• Certified coder credential.
• Acute care hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Code ambulatory surgery and observation encounters.
• Review operative reports and assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
• Abstract clinical and demographic data into hospital systems.
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and AHIMA/AAPC standards.
• Select APC assignments and validate claim readiness.
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to obtain clarification when needed.
• Support emergency department and outpatient diagnostics coding as volume dictates.
• Maintain departmental productivity and quality standards.
