Job summary

Prisma Health is a leading health system seeking a skilled Medical Coder (CPC) to abstract and validate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for inpatient, outpatient, and physician settings. You will stay current with payer guidelines and act as a subject matter expert for assigned specialties.

Responsibilities include using coding software, guiding providers on coding concerns, and mentoring other coders while ensuring compliance with billing standards.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years professional fee coding experience.
• CPC certification and specialty certification relevant to assigned specialty.
• Knowledge of governmental and commercial payer guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts/codes for assigned provider(s)/division based on medical record documentation.
• Uses coding software to determine correct codes.
• Communicates billing issues to supervisor/manager and participates in meetings to improve billing.
• Mentors and assists in training other coders and new team members; performs other duties as assigned.
