Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks an AI Architect to design AI-native applications for large clients, spanning from RAG systems to agentic workflows. You will decide scope, architecture and guardrails, balancing business needs with risk and cost, and you will work with delivery teams and presales to shape proposals.

The role emphasizes architecture decisions over pure coding, with prototyping where evidence is required, and a focus on observability, cost models, and governance for enterprise-scale AI.

Qualifications

• Architect AI-native systems in production including RAG, assistants, agents or agentic workflows.
• Experience as solutions/software/enterprise architect with delivery accountability.
• Able to present options, costs and risks to non-technical decision makers.
• Ability to write architecture decision records and design documents.
• Hands-on coding ability to prototype and constrain designs.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architectures for AI-native solutions including orchestration, retrieval, tool integration and guardrails.
• Explain trade-offs and keep named owners in decisions.
• Define evaluation strategy to ensure business-fit, not just fluent output.
• Document constraints and architectural fitness functions for teams to follow.
• Decide when humans stay in the loop for regulated decisions.
• Collaborate with EPAM delivery teams and presales on proposals and reviews.
• Build PoCs and reference implementations when evidence is needed.
• Contribute to EPAM's AI architecture practice with reusable patterns.
