Job summary

Leidos is seeking motivated software engineering interns for Summer 2027 (May 2027 start) to join the GAINS team under GSM‑O II contract, supporting DISN operations for DISA. The role blends remote work with periodic on-site requirements at Scott AFB, IL or Ft. Meade, MD.

You’ll design, build, and deploy intelligent systems handling high-volume data, pipelines, and real-time AI/ML features. You will gain hands-on experience with AWS, Databricks, Watson AIOps, and cybersecurity automation,

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Data Science.
• Experience with Python, Java, SQL, HTML, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket and UNIX command line.
• Strong teamwork and proactive communication for remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and deploy software in Python/Java/JavaScript/SQL.
• Create Kibana dashboards and visualizations for staff and users.
• Develop Kafka integrations between Elasticsearch/Logstash and Databricks.
• Develop and apply AI/ML and automation capabilities.
• Assist with deployment, configuration, testing, and maintenance of Kafka/Elastic clusters.
