Job summary

ElevenLabs is hiring a senior backend engineer to design, build, and scale safety systems across AI products. You will own production infrastructure, deploy and monitor ML models, and collaborate with Product, Legal, and Safety Policy teams to translate policy requirements into scalable engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong backend engineering experience, including designing APIs and building scalable services.
• Proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud-based applications.
• Ability to own systems end to end from design through deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Build safety systems: design, develop, and scale automated moderation systems and guardrails for AI agents.
• Respond to emerging threats by collaborating with Investigations to improve safety systems.
• Own production infrastructure and monitor reliability, deployment, and operation.
• Bring ML models into production with production-ready deployment and monitoring.
• Build end-to-end solutions including backend services, APIs, and internal tools.
• Collaborate with Product, Legal, and Safety Policy teams to translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
• Shape technical direction and contribute to architectural decisions.
