Job summary

Optum Advisory is seeking an Emerging Technology & AI/ML Manager - Remote to lead client-facing AI transformation and delivery initiatives. This role blends AI/ML leadership, healthcare consulting, delivery management, and Forward Deployed Engineering to rapidly translate business problems into scalable, production-ready solutions.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. while key offices require onsite time for Minneapolis or DC area hires.

Qualifications

7+ years in AI/ML, data, software engineering, or digital transformation.
3+ years leading AI/ML or emerging technology initiatives.
3+ years deploying AI solutions from concept to production.
Healthcare payer/provider/tech experience.
Experience in client-facing, fast-paced delivery environments.
Strong knowledge of GenAI, LLMs, RAG, APIs, and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

Lead delivery of AI/ML and emerging technology solutions from discovery to production.
Partner with clients to identify high-value AI opportunities and translate problems into solutions.
Apply FDE approaches with client and engineering teams to prototype and productionize.
Provide technical direction across LLMs, RAG, APIs, data platforms, and AI-enabled apps.
Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, data scientists, and consultants.
Manage scope, timelines, resources, budgets, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
Embed Responsible AI, security, privacy, governance, and regulatory requirements.
Develop reusable accelerators and patterns for scalability.
Stay current on emerging tech and healthcare applicability.
