Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a senior AI/ML technical leader within Optum Tech AI Transformation to drive the end-to-end AI/ML roadmap. You will mentor a squad of engineers, define architectural direction, and ensure production-grade, secure AI solutions with responsible governance.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, MLOps maturity, and collaboration with enterprise initiatives, including real-time AI under- writing.

Qualifications

10+ years of software development experience with strong engineering/architecture foundation.
2+ years in AI/ML project implementation (full lifecycle).
Hands-on experience with NLP (text processing, embeddings, transformers, NER).
Experience with GenAI (RAG, LLM integration, fine-tuning).
Knowledge of Agentic AI development (multi-agent systems, tool orchestration).
Very solid Python programming skills and production-grade coding standards.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI-powered solutions, including ML, Generative AI, and multi-agent orchestration.
Own the end-to-end AI/ML technical roadmap and set architectural standards for the team.
Lead responsible AI practices, compliance, and data privacy alignment across projects.
Drive MLOps maturity: CI/CD for ML, model versioning, retraining automation, and monitoring.
Mentor 5-10 AI/ML engineers, conduct reviews, and foster a high-performance culture.
