Job summary

OpenTrain AI is seeking mathematical and numerical experts to join a remote, task-based program. You will create advanced mathematical tasks, verify solutions, and build reproducible workflows in Python and CLI tools, earning on an hourly-equivalent basis through accepted tasks.

Work flexibly about 15 hours per week, with no commute. Fluent English, strong math background (MS/PhD or BS+experience), and Python proficiency are required to ensure high-quality contributions to frontier AI research.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English.
• Hold an MS or PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computational Science or Theoretical Computer Science (or BS with 1-2 years of math-focused experience).
• Strong expertise in numerical analysis, optimization, probability, statistics, discrete mathematics or mathematical modeling.
• Practical Python experience and familiarity with scientific computing tools.

Responsibilities

• Create advanced mathematical tasks and translate requirements into step-by-step procedures that can be run precisely.
• Solve and review mathematical and computational problems, checking mathematical soundness and numerical correctness.
• Implement mathematical workflows in Python and command-line tools, including numerical experiments and parameter sweeps.
• Test special cases and validate results, visualizations and calculations for reproducibility.
