Job summary

Baselane is seeking a hands-on QA Lead to drive automation across the test suite, write Playwright tests, and mentor a growing team of manual testers into automation. You will split time between coding and guiding quality standards, collaborating with Engineering, Product, Design, and DevOps to own end-to-end quality.

This remote-first role allows monthly in-person team events, with a stack including React/TypeScript, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software quality with 2+ years leading QA teams while remaining hands-on.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks with Playwright (or Cypress, Selenium).
• Experience testing web applications and APIs (GraphQL/REST).
• Proven track record coaching testers into automation and integrating tests into CI/CD workflows.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding agents to write and maintain tests.

Responsibilities

• Build automation hands-on: write, review, and maintain Playwright tests covering critical user flows and APIs.
• Coach and grow the QA team through pairing, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Own the automation framework architecture, ensuring fast, reliable test contributions.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with DevOps on test environments.
• Test with AI agents to accelerate test creation and maintenance while ensuring output reliability.
• Define quality standards, acceptance criteria, and release readiness metrics.
