Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Software Engineering Team Manager to lead four embedded teams (Prizm, Semantics, Transformation, Delivery Services) within PSG-CP. You will hire, mentor, and set the technical and operational bar to deliver production AI-enabled content platforms at global scale.

This player-coach role blends leadership with hands-on review of architectures and critical production issues. You will partner with Product, Architecture, and business leaders to shape the platform’s evolution,

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in software engineering or related leadership roles.
4+ years of people management experience with hiring and developing engineers.
Experience building teams from 0 to 1 within production environments.
Experience working with enterprise stakeholders on technical implementations.
Production experience with large language models and generative AI.
Strong perspective on AI-first engineering and responsible tool usage.
Depth in distributed backend systems and cloud-native architectures.
Strong operational instincts around observability, on-call, and security.

Responsibilities

Set a high bar for technical talent, customer instincts, and AI-first engineering judgment.
Provide technical mentorship and career growth for each team member.
Staff and oversee engagements with lines of business and manage resource allocation.
Own delivery across roadmaps for Prizm, Semantics, Transformation, and Delivery Services.
Qualify engagements with business leaders and manage client relationships through the lifecycle.
Review architectures and code to ensure production-ready, reliable solutions.
Stay hands-on for technical discovery and debugging when needed.
Build repeatable playbooks, templates, and an internal knowledge base.
Set and uphold a high standard for AI-augmented engineering practices.
Define team OKRs and operational cadences to drive platform adoption.
Collaborate with Product and Architecture to translate field insights into platform improvements.
Represent the platform with senior stakeholders across lines of business.
