Job summary

Break Through Tech seeks several subject matter experts to coach undergraduate fellows through an AI-powered entrepreneurship program. You will facilitate live virtual events, guide teams through customer discovery, MVP development, and pitching, and provide practical guidance on commercialization.

This is a hands-on coaching role with flexible, remote work for up to 500 fellows. Coaches collaborate with program staff, design reviews, and support progress using Canvas, maintaining a focus on

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, advising, mentoring, or coaching Lean Startup, customer discovery, entrepreneurship, or a comparable methodology.
• Working knowledge of customer discovery, hypothesis-driven experimentation, MVP development, value propositions, and business model development.
• Ability to coach multidisciplinary teams and provide constructive, specific feedback without taking ownership of the team’s venture.
• Comfortable working with early-stage ideas where significant uncertainty remains and the next step may not be clear.
• Hands-on experience using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for research, analysis, or product development.
• Commitment to developing inclusive and equitable working relationships with fellows, volunteers, staff, and program stakeholders.
• Experience evaluating and giving feedback on team work products.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• Ability to thrive in a virtual work environment.
• Availability for all Workshop, Maker Day, and Flagship Event dates.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and design short concept reviews for multiple Workshops and Maker Days.
• Provide venture mentorship on customer discovery, MVP scoping, business model development, and pitch preparation.
• Help teams test assumptions and iterate decisions based on evidence and feedback.
• Encourage responsible use of AI and emphasize human judgment and primary customer research.
• Create a supportive environment where fellows learn from experiments and feedback.
• Offer practical guidance on commercialization, market strategy, and investor readiness when appropriate.
• Identify and recommend additional resources to support venture development.
• Participate in weekly Community of Practice meetings with fellow Coaches and staff.
