Job summary

Azumo is seeking an AI Engineer to own production AI systems, including retrieval pipelines, tool-using agents, evaluation harnesses, and guardrails, with a fully remote setup across Latin America. You will ensure reliability, measurable performance, and cost control while aligning with client needs and security requirements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building and shipping production software with a modern backend language (e.g., Python)
• Production experience with LLM-based systems: retrieval-augmented generation, function and tool calling
• Hands-on with vector and retrieval infrastructure: pgvector, Pinecone, Qdrant, FAISS, Azure AI Search
• Experience with agent frameworks: LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, MCP, or native Python loops
• Built an evaluation suite for an LLM system (Langfuse, Ragas, LangSmith, or equivalent)
• Cloud deployment experience (Azure preferred, AWS acceptable) with Docker and CI/CD
• Clear written and spoken English (C1+), able to explain trade-offs to clients
• Bachelor’s in CS/DS or equivalent professional experience

Responsibilities

• Own production AI systems including retrieval pipelines and tool-using agents
• Develop evaluation harnesses and guardrails for dependable in-front-of-user behavior
• Ensure reliability, cost control, and measurable performance in client projects
• Collaborate with Data Engineer, Data Scientist, and Software Engineer lanes
• Ship software in client environments with SOC 2 considerations and HIPAA where applicable
