Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking an AI Software Engineer for an on-site role in Cincinnati, OH with remote work options. This contract-to-hire position focuses on designing guardrail components across services, building backend services and APIs, and enforcing patterns across systems.

The candidate will lead with Python and TypeScript, leverage AWS (Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway), and apply IaC (Terraform). Strong cross-service delivery, observability, and mentoring of engineers are required.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of software engineering experience required.
• Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
• Experience in AWS services and Terraform.
• Proven ability to design scalable backend services across services.
• Experience defining interfaces or patterns used by other engineers.
• Familiarity with cross-service enforcement patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver backend services and APIs enforcing system behavior across services.
• Define enforcement, filtering, and validation points within architectures.
• Build cross-service controls and establish reusable patterns for engineers.
• Instrument observability with structured logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Own shared tooling and platform components used across teams.
• Mentor engineers on defensive design and failure handling practices.
