Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking an AI Software Engineer to design and deliver guardrail components across services and enforce patterns within distributed systems. The role focuses on backend services, APIs, and integrations, requiring leadership and hands-on coding in Python and TypeScript.

This contract-to-hire position is based on-site in Cincinnati, OH, with remote workplace considerations and a competitive W2 hourly rate.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of software engineering experience with Python and TypeScript.
• Advanced experience in AWS, including Lambda, Fargate, and API Gateway.
• Infrastructure as Code in production, including Terraform.
• Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs across service boundaries.
• Experience defining interfaces, contracts, or patterns adopted by other engineers.
• Knowledge of LLM integration patterns such as guardrails and output filtering.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver backend services and APIs that enforce system behavior across multiple services.
• Define where enforcement, filtering, and validation occur within system architectures.
• Build cross-service controls and establish patterns for other engineers to implement.
• Instrument and improve observability across service boundaries, including logging and tracing.
• Own shared tooling and platform components with broad organizational reach.
• Mentor engineers on safe design, defensive programming, and failure handling.
