Job summary

RTI International seeks a Software Engineer to build cloud-native, AI-powered solutions across health, energy, and education sectors. You will translate research needs into technical implementations, design multi-step AI workflows, and deliver scalable, secure systems for enterprise environments.

You will work with data scientists, researchers, and software engineers to ensure rigor, reliability, and production readiness while integrating AI models into existing RTI infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 3+ years of cloud-native app development experience (or Bachelor’s with 5+ years).
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript for AI/backend development.
• Experience building AI- or LLM-based systems, including retrieval pipelines and workflow automation.
• Experience integrating AI models via APIs or model-serving infra.
• Experience handling sensitive data with privacy/compliance considerations.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containers, and basic infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• Experience in cross-functional, team-based environments with researchers and engineers.
• Strong written and verbal communication for non-technical stakeholders.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• AI System & Agent Development: design, build, and maintain AI-enabled systems and multi-step workflows with production readiness.
• Enterprise & Research Infrastructure Integration: integrate AI systems with RTI’s platforms and pipelines.
• CloudNative Engineering: develop and deploy cloud-native services using APIs, containers, and CI/CD.
• Workflow Translation & Automation: translate needs into AI applications to automate workflows.
• Evaluation, Quality, and Reliability: implement testing and monitoring for AI systems in regulated contexts.
• Client & CrossTeam Collaboration: engage with teams and clients to gather requirements and iterate.
• Reusable Patterns & Knowledge Sharing: document systems and contribute to reusable components.
