Placements24 is seeking an Agricultural Engineer specializing in irrigation to design, implement, and optimize advanced irrigation systems for farms. The role offers full remote flexibility while based in Welkom, with collaboration across agronomists, farm managers, and technical teams to deliver tailored solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong hydraulics/soil science background, CAD skills, and a passion for sustainable water management, systems optimization, and scalable project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with irrigation specialization.
• Minimum 4 years of experience designing or implementing agricultural irrigation systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for irrigation layouts.
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, fluid mechanics and water resource management.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, center pivot) tailored to crop and soil conditions.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for new irrigation projects.
• Select irrigation equipment and materials for quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and installation guidelines.
• Oversee or advise on installation and commissioning of irrigation systems.
• Develop strategies for optimizing water use efficiency and minimizing water loss.
• Troubleshoot and provide technical support for existing irrigation systems remotely.
• Stay updated on irrigation technologies, automation, and water management techniques.
• Collaborate with sales and project management teams to ensure project success.
• Prepare reports on system performance and water usage.
