Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Irrigation Systems Engineer for a hybrid role based near Randburg. You will design, implement, and optimize irrigation solutions for farms across regions, performing site assessments and coordinating installation and maintenance.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, knowledge of agronomy, and water management principles to improve water use efficiency and crop yields with smart irrigation technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing agricultural irrigation systems.
• Experience with drip, sprinkler, and center pivot irrigation methods.
• Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics and water resource management.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD) and irrigation design tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer efficient irrigation systems, selecting pumps, pipes, emitters, and controllers.
• Conduct site surveys, analyze soil types, topography, and crop water requirements.
• Develop hydraulics calculations and system layouts for irrigation projects.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and cost estimations.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of irrigation systems.
