Job summary

William & Mary seeks adjunct faculty for the online counseling program for Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027. This is a fully online, remote position; openings arise based on funding and selected candidates will be contacted for interviews.

Responsibilities include maintaining communication with faculty, reviewing course content, providing feedback, grading, and conducting weekly virtual office hours, all aligned with program policies.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a terminal degree in counselor education or related field or qualifications matching those enumerated in the Faculty Qualifications Manual for Alternate Methods of Qualifying Faculty to Teach.
• Online university teaching experience in counseling or related field preferred.
• Ability to teach online courses and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.

Responsibilities

• Maintain frequent and open communication with William & Mary faculty and staff through email and virtual platforms.
• Review course content, activities, and assignments prior to term start.
• Meet all designated course instruction guidelines and rubrics.
• Provide students with timely and specific feedback on assignments and exams.
• Grade assignments and exams within a 2-3 business day window.
• Respond to student inquiries within 1-2 business days.
• Monitor discussion boards and participate as applicable.
• Hold weekly virtual office hours for individual or group consultation.
• Submit final grades according to William & Mary policy and the Online Programs calendar.
• Submit end-of-semester feedback and reflection form.
