Job summary

Washington State Department of Agriculture in Olympia seeks a Fiscal Analyst 1 to support centralized budget, accounting, payroll, and benefits processing. You will analyze expenditures, process payments, and act as a subject matter expert on contract payments, vendor records, and system tooling.

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, you will use AFRS, ECMS, and related tools, assist in year-end close, and help ensure accurate financial reporting across divisions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years payroll, accounting, or fiscal experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP and financial controls.
• Experience handling vendor records and payments.
• Ability to work with diverse teams and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, analyze, interpret, process, and reconcile all payments including invoice payments, organic cost share, contract payments, payments to other state agencies.
• Verify correctness of invoice quantity and amount.
• Analyze and interpret payment documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Check for duplicate payments and code documents for proper divisions.
• Create and process payment batches using AFRS, and ensure vendor data accuracy.
• Assist in fiscal year closing and research discrepancies.
