Job summary

The Salvation Army in Kansas City, MO is seeking an Accounting Specialist responsible for account coding and data entry of accounts payable and receipting transactions. You will monitor shared mailboxes, code and record invoices and receipts, print checks, and prepare documentation for mailing.

After approvals, ACH payments are emailed to vendors and records are maintained for auditors. Qualifications include an Associate degree in accounting (or related field) and at least two years in

• Associate degree in accounting or related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Two years in the accounting field with computer utilization preferred; Word and Excel skills required.
• Business administration and finance courses desirable; computer-based accounting knowledge very helpful.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shared mailboxes to print documentation and respond or forward as needed.
• Accurately process, code and record invoices, reimbursement requests and cash receipts.
• Accurately process, code and record receipting transactions.
• Print checks as assigned.
• Perform administrative support tasks including scanning documentation and preparing checks for mailing.
• After approvals, email ACH payment information to vendors.
• Retrieve documentation for auditors and maintain records per Salvation Army policies.
• Support timely compliance and record-keeping across departments.
