Job summary

Nonprofit Resources seeks an Accounting Manager to independently manage full-cycle accounting for multiple entities. You will handle month-end close, GL reconciliations, and financial statement preparation while guiding bookkeeping staff.

The role is remote with periodic on-site presence in South Dakota. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in nonprofit/GAAP accounting, strong Excel skills, and experience coordinating audits and tax filings.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Substantial experience independently performing full-cycle accounting and period-end closing.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
• Demonstrated experience reconciling and substantiating balance sheet accounts.
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Experience investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
• Clear and professional communication of accounting matters.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage full-cycle accounting for assigned entities.
• Plan, perform, and complete monthly and year-end closing activities.
• Review the general ledger for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare and review adjusting journal entries and reconciling items.
• Reconcile multiple ledgers and ensure supported workpapers.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and reports.
• Review statements for reasonableness and potential errors.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax professionals, and clients as needed.
• Provide guidance to bookkeeping staff and maintain internal controls.
