Job summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation in Houston is seeking an accounting internship to support the Controller's group in month-end close, GAAP compliance, and routine accounting tasks. You will work with seasoned professionals to learn and improve core financial processes.

Eligible candidates are accounting/finance students with at least sophomore status, a 3.0 GPA, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an Accounting or Finance Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
• Sophomore status with completion of Freshman year; coursework in Beginning and Intermediate Accounting completed prior to internship.
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or above in Accounting/Finance courses.
• Basic computer skills and good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monthly/Quarterly Close & Reporting – Assist Controller’s group in month end and quarter end closing process, including analysis and reporting.
• GAAP Accounting – Assist daily tasks and accounting transactions to ensure recording in accordance with GAAP.
• Special Projects & Other – Perform analyses and procedures as requested, providing management with results and recommendations for improvements.
