Job summary

McGraw Hill is seeking an Academic Designer to help develop literacy content and curriculum aligned to standards for grades 6-12. The role collaborates with the Academic Design team and Product Managers to shape solution design and content production.

Remote in the United States with an end date of 2027-10-30; candidates should have 2+ years of experience in literacy curriculum development and strong English-language skills. Comprehensive compensation and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in literacy curriculum development and educational publishing for grades 6-12.
• Teaching experience is an advantage.
• Highly organized, goal-oriented, and collaborative.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, on-time delivery.
• Knowledge of ELA/ELD standards and content development practices (WIDA, ELPA21, California ELD, Texas ELPS).
• Excellent English communication, spelling, grammar, and style.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and be flexible.
• Familiarity with digital learning, authoring systems, accessibility, and testing.
• Experience building accessible content in digital authoring systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop content (learning objectives, scope/sequence, lessons, resources) for print, digital, and media projects.
• Develop prototypes, exemplars, guidelines, and project scope documentation as needed.
• Serve as liaison between vendors, internal engineering teams, and Academic Design teams.
• Demonstrate understanding of literacy pedagogy across grades 6-12 and standards.
• Apply standards and research to create content for innovative products.
• Produce accurate, high-quality content aligned to curriculum standards (CCSS, state standards).
• Provide feedback to colleagues and vendors.
• Identify risks and propose process improvements.
• Stay up-to-date on literacy trends and educational tech.
