Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks a senior leader to manage A/R, billing, project setup, and closeout in a government contracting environment. You will lead teams, ensure accurate billing, compliant setups, and strong internal controls across complex contracts.

You will partner with audit teams, customers, and DCMA ACO, driving process improvements, rate structures guidance, and timely financial reporting to executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required or related field; 10–12 years accounting/billing experience with leadership experience.
• Experience with government contract accounting and FAR billing requirements.
• Experience billing fixed price, T&M, and cost reimbursable contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of A/R, Billing, Project Setup, and Contract Closeout teams.
• Hire, train, coach and develop staff; build depth and continuity of expertise.
• Ensure timely and accurate billing, project setup, rate adjustments, and closeout activities.
• Maintain compliance with FAR 52.216-7 and government requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex project setup, revenue recognition, and billing issues with Costpoint expertise.
• Develop and maintain company-wide procedures for billing, project setup, collections, and closeout.
• Provide guidance on indirect rate structures and impact on project setup and billing.
• Monitor unbilled receivables, oversee collection efforts, and prepare DSO analyses.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support for external/internal audits.
