Job summary

You will work closely with Senior Technicians and Professionals, travel locally to client sites, and ensure health and safety compliance while collecting reliable data to advance cleanup projects.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree is required.
  • 0 - 3 years of experience in environmental and remediation projects.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail, excellent technical abilities, and a quick learner.
  • Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine O&M inspections and maintenance on groundwater remediation system equipment.
  • Conduct environmental sampling activities (groundwater, soil, vapor).
  • Oversight of remediation system vendors and contractors.
  • Troubleshoot system performance and mechanical/electrical components.
  • Record and report O&M compliance/permit monitoring data.
  • Oversee remedial system installation, start up, and operation.

Job description

The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech's Rancho Cordova, CA office is currently seeking a full-time Remediation Technician to support environmental and remediation activities on a Superfund site. This field-based role involves tasks such as field work planning and preparation, soil, water, and groundwater sampling, soil vapor sampling, remedial system operation and maintenance, data compilation and analysis, and subcontractor oversight. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Senior Technicians and Professionals on a variety of environmental remediation projects. This position is open to candidates local to the Rancho Cordova, CA area who are eligible to work in the United States .

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform routine O&M inspections and maintenance on groundwater remediation system equipment and treatment facilities.
  • Conduct environmental sampling activities (groundwater, soil, and vapor).
  • Oversight of remediation system vendors and contractors.
  • Perform non‑routine O&M activities; troubleshoot system performance and mechanical/electrical components.
  • Observe, record and report O&M compliance/permit monitoring data.
  • Oversee remedial system installation, start up, and operation.
  • Field investigation, sampling, and data collection.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols to ensure personal safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associates degree is required.
  • 0 - 3 years of experience in environmental and remediation projects.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail, excellent technical abilities, and an ability to quickly learn new skills required.
  • A pre‑employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical and/or degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
  • Environmental Geologist with field mapping skills.
  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred; training provided.
  • A Pre‑employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical and/or degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel locally and perform field work (position is 100% field based with year‑round outside field work).
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50lbs while traversing large terrain.
  • Ability to walk across variable terrain, including uneven ground, in all weather conditions (hot/cold temperatures 95 degrees, loud noises, equipment, etc.) for field work.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
  • Position is based out of the local Rancho Cordova, CA office and is a 100% field‑based role at client sites.
  • Field work will include work to be performed outside, as a result may include working in various environmental factors (weather, altitude, terrain, noise, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting, and sitting for site assessments, sampling, oversight, and other field activities.
Additional Information:
  • Full‑time, Monday through Friday work schedule (40 hours). Occasionally extended hours may be required based on project and/or client needs.
  • Work will be performed in a field / client site setting.

Target salary range: $27.00 / hour to $30.00 / hour. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
