Qualifications

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision, the candidate will perform geotechnical laboratory and field tasks. Candidate will be responsible for conducting various soil tests, preparing samples, and assisting in the analysis of test results to support a diverse range of clients in the construction, environmental, and infrastructure sectors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct laboratory tests on soil samples, including grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, moisture content, compaction tests, and other geotechnical tests.
  • Prepare soil samples for testing and ensure proper documentation and labeling.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Assist in field sampling and site investigations as needed.
  • Collect and compile field data as required.
  • Document technical data for management review.
  • Provide other office duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in environmental services or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude and understanding of field equipment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from peers and supervisors. Good overall communication skills.
  • Basic math skills for addition, subtraction, division, multiplication. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and other software as necessary to perform job functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Looking to obtain associates degree in related field preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Occasional office-based work typically involves low hazard exposure, though noise levels may vary depending on nearby activities or equipment.

  • Travel between sites or offices may be required, with employees expected to operate vehicles safely under varying weather, traffic, and environmental conditions.
