Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Remediation Specialist to support complex site investigations and groundwater and soil remediation projects. The role includes field investigations, remedial design, and project management across multiple remediation technologies in a remote/hybrid work setting.

The successful candidate will contribute to project delivery, client support, and technical leadership, with opportunities for professional growth within a leading environmental consulting firm.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • 3-8 years of directly related environmental remediation experience.
  • Master's degree in Geology or Environmental Engineering with a remediation focus preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating, designing, and implementing environmental remediation technologies.
  • Experience with groundwater monitoring, soil investigations, remediation systems, and environmental data evaluation.
  • Strong project management, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with current refresher training.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work, including occasional extended hours.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Tetra Tech is adding an Environmental Remediation Specialist with outstanding technical capabilities to support complex environmental site investigation and remediation projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow professionally while working on projects involving complex site investigations, groundwater and soil remediation, and the application of innovative remediation technologies.

The successful candidate will support all phases of environmental remediation projects, from field investigations and remedial design through project implementation, system operations, and project management. This role offers increasing responsibility in technical leadership, client support, subcontractor management, budgeting, scheduling, and project delivery.

Essential Job Functions:
Environmental Site Investigation & Remediation
  • Perform groundwater monitoring, free-product recovery, and soil investigations.
  • Oversee groundwater, soil vapor, and monitoring well installations and abandonments.
  • Support the evaluation, design, implementation, operation, and optimization of a variety of environmental remediation technologies.
  • Manage, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot remediation systems.
  • Evaluate environmental data and prepare technical reports, recommendations, and project documentation.
  • Support remedial investigations, feasibility evaluations, and corrective action planning.
Project Management
  • Manage environmental remediation projects from planning through completion.
  • Develop project scopes, work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and provide field oversight during investigation and remediation activities.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Support proposal preparation, cost estimating, and project planning activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and oversee completion of assigned tasks.
Client & Regulatory Support
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Support permitting activities and regulatory compliance associated with site investigations and remediation projects.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and client deliverables.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and technical support.
Professional Standards & Safety
  • Maintain current knowledge of remediation technologies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with groundwater monitoring, soil investigations, remediation systems, and environmental data evaluation.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and supporting field operations.
  • Strong project management, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with current refresher training.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work, including occasional extended hours under varying environmental conditions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with petroleum hydrocarbon remediation projects.
  • Familiarity with Colorado site investigation and remediation regulations.
  • Experience working with the Colorado Division of Water Resources and the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
  • Safeland USA training.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Experience supporting environmental consulting projects for industrial, energy, or commercial clients.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform field work under varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and work at active project sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry field equipment as required.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and occasionally work extended field schedules.
  • Office and field-based work environment supporting environmental investigation and remediation projects.
  • Frequent travel to project sites as required.
  • Collaborative work environment supporting multidisciplinary engineering and environmental teams.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $75,000-$100,000 annually

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
