Job summary

Daimler Truck North America offers an internship in Detroit, MI, that exposes you to remanufacturing engineering and operations, with hands-on experience in disassembly, inspection, refurbishment, and reassembly of returned or end-of-life products.

Interns will work on cost efficiency, quality, and sustainability, and may transition to a full-time role based on performance. Hybrid work, summer start, and exposure to cross-functional teams are highlighted in this program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher or recent graduate within 1 year in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze remanufacturing workflows to identify bottlenecks and propose improvements.
• Develop and document standard operating procedures for remanufacturing processes.
• Participate in failure analysis and root cause investigations of returned components.
• Collect, analyze, and report KPIs such as yield, turnaround time, and scrap rates.
• Collaborate with quality, supply chain, and production teams.
• Support process validation activities and pilot runs for new remanufacturing techniques.
• Assist in designing or improving tooling, fixtures, and work instructions to boost efficiency and safety.
• Engage in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Contribute to an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture.
