Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is seeking a Retail Pharmacist to ensure safe, accurate dispensing of all prescription and non-prescription medications. The role requires counseling patients, upholding standards of care, and complying with applicable laws and policies.

You will join a team in a busy pharmacy, share on-call and weekend rotation responsibilities, and participate in staff training and inventory management while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Completion of the requirements for a B.S. or PharmD in Pharmacy at an accredited college of pharmacy is required.
• A current State of Iowa Pharmacist license.
• Maintenance of continuing education credits every 2 years as required by the Iowa State Board of Pharmacy.
• Previous practical experience in a retail or ambulatory care pharmacy is preferred.
• Certification in Immunization Administration is preferred.
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications accurately and dispense prescriptions issued by physicians.
• Counsel patients on prescription and non-prescription medications.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Communicate with medical staff and patients.
• Represent MercyOne Pharmacies in a courteous, friendly, and caring manner.
• Share in on-call and weekend rotation responsibilities.
• Assist in inventory maintenance and staff training.
• Adhere to federal and state laws governing dispensing of medications.
